Visit Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts<\/a><\/strong> (@_smoca<\/strong>) visit the exhibition Full Circle<\/a><\/strong> by Beverly McIver<\/strong>. You will see more than 70 works that demonstrate the diversity of the artist’s thematic approach to painting over 25 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From\u202fearly self-portraits in clown makeup<\/strong> to more recent works featuring portraits of others and her own reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic<\/strong>, the exhibition illuminates the arc of McIver’s artistic career while also touching on her personal journey.<\/p>\n

Her\u202fself-portraits explore expressions of individuality, stereotypes,\u202fand ways of masking identity, while portraits of family members provide glimpses of intimate moments,\u202fin good times as well as in illness and death.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition includes McIver’s portraits of other artists and notable figures, recent work resulting from a year in Rome with American Academy’s Rome Prize<\/strong>, and new\u202fwork in which McIver explores the juxtaposition of color, pattern, and the human figure.<\/p>\n

Full Circle\u202falso features works that\u202freflect on\u202fMcIver’s collaborations with artists, as well as her impact on the next generation. A complementary exhibition,\u202fIn Good Company, includes artists who have mentored McIver, such as Faith Ringgold <\/strong>and Richard Mayhew<\/strong>, as well as those who have studied under her, including Melissa Button, Claudio\u202fDicochea, Michael Dixon, Carrie Hott, Mary Porterfield, Chris Santa Maria, Damian Stamer, <\/strong>and Lamar Whidbee.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beverly McIver: Full Circle\u202fis curated by Kim Boganey<\/strong>, director of Scottsdale Public Art. This exhibition is generously supported by presenting sponsor Wells Fargo. Additional support is provided by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.<\/p>\n
