On April 22nd<\/strong> we celebrate our planet Earth<\/strong><\/span> and its beautiful gifts that we, sadly, take for granted sometimes. Arbor day is on April 30th<\/span><\/strong> – a special day created by J. Sterling Morton. His idea of setting aside a special day for tree planting is now more important than ever. His idea spread beyond Nebraska (where the first official Arbor Day was celebrated) and today all 50 states celebrate Arbor Day.<\/p>\n

Mesa has also been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation since 2010 to honor its commitment to community forestry.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

These two days are very important and we need to celebrate them properly. Check out Earth-Friendly Events Happening in Mesa below.<\/p>\n

Earth Day – Holiday Play<\/strong> <\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n

On Saturday April 17th (today)<\/span> <\/strong>come at Carriage Lane Park<\/span> <\/strong>for fun activities planned for kids and guardians to do together that raise awareness about the planet’s environment.<\/p>\n

Activities include tree and flower planting, a ladybug release, solar cooking, DIY bird feeders, and more! Participants can win a solar cooker!<\/p>\n
