{"id":23389,"date":"2021-03-27T07:24:24","date_gmt":"2021-03-27T14:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/phoenixvalleyreview.com\/?p=23389"},"modified":"2021-03-27T07:29:57","modified_gmt":"2021-03-27T14:29:57","slug":"scottsdale-philharmonic-resumes-concerts-and-youth-orchestra-auditions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/phoenixvalleyreview.com\/scottsdale-philharmonic-resumes-concerts-and-youth-orchestra-auditions\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottsdale Philharmonic resumes concerts and youth orchestra auditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottsdalephilharmonic.com\/\">Scottsdale Philharmonic Orchestra<\/a><\/strong> announces its first concert in 2021 as the premier spring concert is <strong>4 p.m.<\/strong> on <strong>Sunday<\/strong>, <strong>May 2<\/strong> at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdaleperformingarts.org\/\">Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>All of our musicians are excited to be able to safely resume our rehearsals and performances<\/em>,&#8221; said <strong>Joy Partridge<\/strong>, Scottsdale Philharmonic co-founder, in a prepared statement. &#8220;<em>We&#8217;re looking forward to a great season at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23391\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23391\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23391\" src=\"https:\/\/phoenixvalleyreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Center-exterior-1024x501-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"501\" srcset=\"https:\/\/phoenixvalleyreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Center-exterior-1024x501-1.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/phoenixvalleyreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Center-exterior-1024x501-1-600x294.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23391\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>May 2<\/strong> concert, according to a press release, will feature music selections from four composers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adagio in G Minor by Albinoni;<\/li>\n<li>The Simple Symphony Op 4 by Britten;<\/li>\n<li>Adagio for Strings by Barber; and<\/li>\n<li>Eine kleine Nachfmusik by Mozart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tickets, the release said are available for <strong>$15 <\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdaleperformingarts.org\/events\/2021-05\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>According to CDC guidelines, the venue will have limited seating capacity so we encourage our patrons to get their tickets early<\/em>,&#8221; <strong>Ms. Partridge<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Our second concert of the season will be on Sunday, <strong>June 27<\/strong>, <strong>4 p.m.<\/strong>, also at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdaleperformingarts.org\/\">Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts<\/a><\/strong>. This concert will feature <strong>July 4 patriotic music<\/strong><\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Youth Orchestra<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23392\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23392\" style=\"width: 696px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23392 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/phoenixvalleyreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/SPYONovember2019-1024x382.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"260\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23392\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Scottsdale Philharmonic Youth Orchestra<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottsdalephilharmonic.com\/youth-orchestra-home\/\">The Scottsdale Philharmonic Youth Orchestra<\/a><\/strong> will hold auditions for its Youth Orchestra in <strong>May<\/strong> and <strong>October<\/strong>, the release said, noting the SPYO will hold live and video auditions for its upcoming <strong>2021-22<\/strong> season. Live auditions will be at <strong>10 a.m.<\/strong> on <strong>Saturdays<\/strong>, <strong>May 15<\/strong> and <strong>Oct. 9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Scottsdale Philharmonic Youth Orchestra<\/strong> started in <strong>2019<\/strong> under the direction of <strong>Dr. Daniel Atwood<\/strong>, who along with directing the <strong>SPYO<\/strong>, and playing principal horn in the Scottsdale Philharmonic.<\/p>\n<p>He teaches K-2 music at <a href=\"https:\/\/archwayveritas.greatheartsamerica.org\/\">Archway Classical Academy Veritas<\/a> where he also directs the ACAV String Club.<\/p>\n<p>Earning adoctorate of musical arts in horn performance from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jmu.edu\/\">James Madison University<\/a>, his master of music from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsu.edu\/\">Florida State University<\/a>, and his bachelor of music from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unl.edu\/\">University of Nebraska-Lincoln<\/a>, Dr. Atwood moved to the Phoenix area three years ago, noted the release.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Our Youth Orchestra is for students grade 7 to 12 who want to learn to be great orchestra players<\/em>,&#8221; said Dr. Atwood in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tuition is very affordable, only <strong>$100<\/strong> <strong>a year<\/strong>. We practice Tuesday evenings, <strong>6:30<\/strong> to <strong>8:30 p.m<\/strong>., and hold our rehearsals and concerts at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newvisioncsl.org\/\">New Vision Center for Spiritual Living<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/AvpjgfmfUrvmAfHa6\"><strong>18010 N. Tatum Blvd. in Phoenix<\/strong><\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Youth Orchestra concerts are scheduled for <strong>7 p.m. on Dec. 14<\/strong>; <strong>March 8<\/strong> and <strong>May 3, 2022<\/strong>, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the live auditions or for information on submitting a video audition, see the website.
