Senegalese-Inspired Spice Blend Takes Phoenix by Storm

Gilberte “GG” Bussey brings authentic West African flavors to Arizona kitchens with her signature seasoning blend. After moving from Senegal 15 years ago, the nursing student and new mom turned her co-workers’ lunch envy into a thriving spice business.

Her GG’s Seasoning ($10) combines sea salt, onions, garlic, turmeric, chile de árbol, and lemon peel with secret Senegalese spices. Moreover, customers rave about using it on everything from popcorn to seafood. You can find this versatile blend online, at local farmers markets, and at Little Shop of Hot Sauce in Central Phoenix.

Scottsdale Coffee Roaster Serves Premium Beans

Former Phoenix police sergeant Brian Fernandez transformed pandemic setbacks into coffee shop success. Furthermore, his Yellow Spruce Roasters now offers house-roasted varieties including Mum’s Dark Roast ($17) with smoky notes and Brazil single-origin ($17.50) featuring chocolate undertones.

Operating from Old Town Scottsdale, Fernandez sources beans from Tanzania, Costa Rica, and Sumatra. Additionally, his adjacent wine bar features signature espresso martinis made with Yellow Spruce coffee.

Ahwatukee Veteran Creates Gourmet Pretzel Empire

Navy veteran Andrew Jerdee launched Gold Dust Pretzels four years ago as a complement to his jerky business. His weekly-made batches include seven bold flavors, from Ranch Dill ($10) to the fiery Reaper variety.

The newest addition, Strawberry Cheesecake ($12), joins favorites like Chili Lime with Tajín and PB&J. Meanwhile, Jerdee promises an upcoming S’mores flavor combining graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow.
